On Wednesday, 6 December 2023, within the framework of the Slovenian Academy of Management Association at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, we successfully held a debate evening titled:

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ITS IMPACT ON MANAGEMENT

The December debate evening was dedicated to discussing the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on management. The introductory speakers, Dr. Peter Trkman, Žiga Patačko Koderman, and Dr. Dan Podjed, highlighted the advantages and challenges that AI brings to society in general and to the business world. The key benefits of using AI include greater efficiency of business processes, improved decision-making support, and higher quality of products and services. However, these advantages can only be fully realized with appropriate technological infrastructure and management that must support the introduction of artificial intelligence from all perspectives (stakeholder integration, change management, employee training, etc.), while also not overlooking the ethical challenges of its use.

The discussion that followed the presentations also addressed generational differences, the pitfalls of excessive use of ICT, and possible long-term societal changes as a consequence of the growing power of those who will own vast amounts of data. In the future, intensive development of the field of artificial intelligence is expected, which will require cooperation between AI experts, academics, and practitioners to create sustainable and ethical solutions and business models.
