INVITATION TO THE DEBATE EVENING OF THE SLOVENIAN ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION

The Executive Board of the Slovenian Academy of Management Association invites you to a debate evening, which will take place on Wednesday, 5 December 2018 at 16:00 in the Club Room (D-122) at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Kardeljeva ploščad 17, 1000 Ljubljana, titled:

AGILITY – THE KEY TO SUCCESS IN TIMES OF CONSTANT CHANGE

The concept of “agility” first emerged about two decades ago in the field of information technology development and other development projects. In recent years, however, agility—as a way of thinking and acting—has gained increasing attention in the business world, as it enables organizations across many industries to quickly adapt to continuous and rapid changes in the environment.

The Slovenian synonyms for agility are diligence and industriousness (SSKJ). But what is agility as an approach in the business world? Is agility simply adaptability, or something more? Who should be agile (employees, managers, teams, organizations, society)? What should be agile (culture, thinking, emotions, structures, processes)? Which skills are crucial for agility—are they learnability, focus, openness, collaboration? Is agility just another management trend? What are examples of good practices of agile organizations/projects? So how can we become (more) agile?

At the debate evening, these and similar questions about agility will be addressed with both practitioners and a researcher of this increasingly relevant field, and together we will seek answers. The introductory speakers will be:

  • Prof. Dr. Jure Kovač, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Maribor
  • Matej Golob, MBA, CorpoHub
  • Alen Stanišić, NLB d.d.

The discussion, in which we will exchange different opinions, will be moderated by Assist. Prof. Dr. Nina Tomaževič. Please confirm your participation by 28 November 2018 at: nina.tomazevic@fu.uni-lj.si.

With respect,
Executive Board of the Slovenian Academy of Management Association
